Position: Community Oral Health Officer

Reports to: Centre Manager

Locations: Nairobi, Kakamega, Kapenguria, Mumias, Thika

Job Overview

The position holder is responsible for providing comprehensive, patient-centered oral healthcare.

Key Responsibilities

Provide safe, effective, patient-centered, timely, efficient, and equitable care to all patients visiting Bliss Healthcare Medical Centre.
Assess dental conditions and patient needs using defined dental screening and monitoring procedures.
Analyze X-rays and evaluate dental needs, including medical history review and dental charting.
Conduct, develop, mount, and trace radiographs required for corrective treatment.
Undertake treatment and care for teeth and tissue problems using specified equipment, tools, and established oral health procedures.
Manage and maintain dental department inventory, including consumables, equipment, and instruments, while ensuring stock control and accountability.
Stay up to date with developments in the dental profession.
Provide patient education on dental care.
Ensure compliance with healthcare regulations and safety standards.
Contribute clinical dental expertise to patient care within the facilities.
Perform administrative duties and risk management.
Document patient dental history, chief complaints, and observations, including laboratory procedures, and ensure follow-up on results.
Minimum Qualifications

Diploma in Community Oral Health
Registered by the Oral Health Association of Kenya (OHAK)
Valid annual practice license
Technical Skills / Leadership Competencies

BLS Certification
Proficiency in computer application packages
Wide knowledge of the health industry
Proven communication, interpersonal, and decision-making skills
Ability to work under minimum supervision
Experience

At least 3 years’ experience in a similar role in a busy hospital
